Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Jan Brülle shows how poverty risks in Germany between 1992 and 2012 increased concentrated on those with low educational levels, in lower occupational positions, and with precarious employment careers, as the country's welfare state failed to adapt to widening inequalities in households' market incomes. Contrasting the German experience with Great Britain, where social transfers to low-income families in concert with favourable labour market conditions helped to reduce poverty between 1992 and the global financial crisis, he presents the most comprehensive comparative study on poverty trends in these two countries to date. Moving beyond a cross-sectional perspective on poverty, the author analyses why it became not only more frequent in Germany, but also more persistent in individual life-courses, and why faster exits have driven the decline in poverty in Great Britain.

1 feuille ( 200 x 285 mm). 1 sheet ( 200 x 285 mm). Watercolor gouache and ink signed and dated lower right. Gaston Bruelle (Paris, 1849-Asnières,1884-Argenteuil) was a student of Jules Noël (1810-1881). He exhibited at the Salon de la Société des Artistes français from 1869 to 1881 and in 1873 with the "Refusés". Consultation of the Cercle Nautique directories reveals that he was a subscriber member from 1880 to 1884. He also collaborated with the weekly Le Yacht in 1883 by sending eight drawings illustrating regattas in Argenteuil, Rouen, Le Havre and Trouville. His works are quite rare on the market. An oil painting by him depicting a day of regattas in the Argenteuil basin is kept in the Musée de la Marine. Our watercolor depicts a fishing scene with two ships under sail almost side by side, the crews rigging the boats. 3 sailors are disembarking in a rowboat. The whole is perfectly executed: hulls, rigging, sea. testify to a perfect knowledge of the artist of the marine universe, main subject of his known work. The type of boats, the green-yellow of the sea and the profile of the coastline allow us to situate the scene in the Bay of Seine.
