From the introduction, "The Casteel's we know were on the Greenbriar River and in and around the area where Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia come together. As well as, the area known, at the time of John H. Casteel's birth as Greenbriar County, Virginia (now West Virginia). John H. Casteel was born in 1788 on the Greenbriar River, in Greenbriar County, Virginia. His parents are unknown to us. John H. moved to Kentucky in 1795. He served in the War of 1812 with General Jackson in Tennessee and General Shelby on the Thames River. John H. told his son James that he killed the Indian Chief Tecumseh. The army did not want the credit for killing Tecumseh to go to a half breed so it went to a white soldier. James told this to his son Clayborn White Casteel and he told me." Very scarce.
