When this book was released in 1949 some of the pictures of the natives were thought to be RACIST so there was quite a flap about it. A controversial book due to its stereotypical portrayal of Africans. The book was then taken out of print in the 1960s, after Toni Morrison (a future Nobel Prize in Literature), an editor at Random House, protested the depiction of "savages". RACIST CONTENT.
