Two small price tags at back cover for Rudolf Steiner Books and St. George Bks. Pages near fine, clean. Saddle-stitch bind, fine. Impressive little booklet on Steiner's approach to the art and instruction of painting. Scarce collection of insights; protected in clear sleeve. Contents: "Notes for Teachers in Advanced Classes; The Training Sketches: 1. and 2. Sunrise and Sunset; 3. and 4. Trees in Sunny Air and Trees in Storm; 5. Sunlit Tree by a Waterfall; 6. Head Study; 7. Madonna." The Fortbildung School was next door to Rudolf Steiner's studio at the Goetheanum. Rudolf often came to the class to look at the paintings and then asked for paper to be put up on the board with pins. He used coloured chalks for his imagery. Material here is from the Teacher's Conferences at the Free Waldorf School, Stuttgart. Cycle of Lectures in Oxford, 22nd August, 1922 and "What Goes On in the Anthroposophical Movement, 1931-1935." At back are two pages of adverts for: "Reproductions of the Training Sketches" by Steiner which were available from The Rudolf Steiner Bookshop in varying sizes apprx. 1' to 2" in dimensions. Also: "The Nine Training Sketches for the Painter (Nature's Moods)," also by Steiner and available as companion to this work.
