The author found that microscopic analysis of coal particles freed from discrete particles into individual grains provides a more precise measure of coal composition. Moreover, the method allows for a more precise understanding of how coal cleaning processes affect ingredient composition. This aspect is particularly significant for the combustion characteristics of coal used in domestic-type stokers, which is the subject of this particular research.
