The dust jacket is slight faded and has general wear for its age. The boards are in very good condition, in brown cloth with gilt lettering. The contents are in very good condition, with some slight foxing to the page edges at the top. This edition is signed by a previous owner, Lt-Corporal C. Rowland and there's a reference to p.302, where the owner, who was then a captain, is shown in the records (see pictures for details).

In 1935 the tenth volume was issued with only African and Adiatic specimens.Bookplate to the front pastedown, Henry Courtney Brocklehurst. Brocklehurst was an avid hunter himself, and wrote the work 'Game Animals of the Sudan, Their Habits and Distribution'. Courtney Brocklehurst was the brother of explorer Philip Lee Brocklehurst.
