Aussenseiten mit Brieftext von ca. 25 Zeilen (Tinte, Kugelspitzfeder; 'moderne' lat. od. französ. Schreibschrift/Kurrentschrift) in etwas steifem (schulmässigem) Duktus über 2 Seiten. Prof. für Schweizer Geschichte an der Universität Fribourg, Förderer der katholischen Geschichtswissenschaft in der Schweiz (HLS) - Innentext: Anfang u. Schluss als Doxologie 'Ehre sei dem Vater', dazwischen exegetisch-katechetische Darlegungen zu: Gott der Vater, (-) der Sohn, (-) der Heilige Geist - Aussenseiten: Businger dankt in seinem persönlich gehaltenen Schreiben "für die Zusendung der 'Politique suisse depuis le 16. siècle'" und bedauert, sich wegen "Frostbeulen an beiden Händen, Rheumatismen u. dergl." kurz fassen zu müssen. Was für eine Schrift Büchi geschickt hat, ist nicht eruierbar. Businger kommentiert: "Der 'Liberté' wie der Universität selbst können solche Polemiken, in welchen der gewissenhafte Historiker sowohl als der Katholik so vortheilhaft auf ihre Rechnung kommen, nur zur Ehre gereichen." Offenbar enthielt diese 'Politique suisse' polemische (liberale, radikale) Spitzen sowohl gegen Büchi als auch gegen die katholisch-konservative (und ultramontanistische) Freiburger Tageszeitung 'La Liberté' (gegründet 1871 von Joseph Schorderet). - Businger revanchiert sich zudem für Büchis "lb. Besuch[e] vom letzten November" mit "hier beiliegenden Blätter[n] [.]. Ich habe sie vor etwas mehr als drei Jahren drucken lassen, um sie nach meinem Tode einigen Freunden und Bekannten zukommen zu lassen. Ihrer Diskretion darf ich sie schon heute anvertrauen, obschon eigentlich nur S. 22 u. 25 Sie interessieren können" (i.e.: L.C.B., Dreissig Blätter aus meinem Tagebuch, 1855 bis 1905. Pfarrer in Arlesheim 1861-71, Regens des Diözesanseminars in Solothurn 1871-76, Redaktor der Schweiz. Kirchenzeitung, Professor und Spiritual des Instituts Menzingen 1885-1891 (A. Büchi, in: HBLS). 1891: "Zum dritten und letzten Male siedelte er nach Solothurn über, als Kaplan von 'Kreuzen', von der edlen Familie von Roll, in deren Kreis er viel verkehrte, sowie von vielen Verehrern freudigst aufgenommen. Als 'toter Mann' hatte er sich beim Antritt vorgestellt, aber noch hielt er 19 Jahre aus, so lange wie nirgends [.]. [.] Mehr als er zu hoffen gewagt, gefiel ihm die Klause im Wald." (etc.; Schweiz. September, um 2 Uhr in der Morgenfrühe, ist der verdiente Priester ruhig und sanft verschieden; Donnerstag, an Maria Geburt, wird er in der von Rollschen Familiengruft, in der Hl. Grabkirche, wo er so gerne seinen Lebensabend zubrachte, bestattet." (H. 36, p. 357) -- Kreuzen : Weiler in der polit. Gem. Rüttenen SO, der über der Einsiedelei Sankt Verena liegt und das Ziel des 1613 angelegten und 2000 wieder hergestellten Kreuzweges bildet. Die von Johann von Roll gestiftete Kirche (mit Pfrund und Kollaturrecht) in Kreuzen ist noch heute eine Familienstiftung und wurde 1642-43 von Klaus Altermatt gebaut (Patrozinium Hl. Grab, Maria, alle Heiligen). Im Chor existiert eine Nachbildung der Hl. Grabkapelle von Jerusalem. [.] Das Pfarrhaus entstand 1644, das Sigristenhaus 1722.
