Add to basketNo Binding. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. Various (illustrator). 1st Edition. Five scarce copies of this title from 1910, having been bound (therefore no covers), they are in exceptional condition. Each copy consists of twelve tight previously sewn-in pages approximately 16 inches tall (tabloid size newspaper). Clean throughout, one copy has a margin tear and a few edge nicks but the rest have very few signs of use such as light edge thumbing. Importantly, they are not horizontally folded and will be mailed in a cardboard tube to maintain this condition. Various complete short stories as well as single chapters fom longer works. Many illustrations to text as well as wonderful contemporary adverts for such products as Telescopes, Buckskin Fielders' Gloves, Wrigley's, Kodak cameras, ladies tailored suits, Jell-o, and Remington .22 Repeaters. Emma Dowd's (1851-1938) very short story, Daughter of Iron Crow, and Canadian author Katherine Holland Brown's (1874-1931) longer Halcyon Second demonstrate a breadth of fiction writing alongside factual reports such as the "newest game" from England: Boy Scouts, a very early description of Baden-Powell's Scout movement, Battleship target practise focusing on the work of Lt. Simms, and an illustrated account of the national census by the Chief Statistician. Big 50% PRICE reduction now applied.
