Original blind-stamped blue cloth cover with re-backed original spine with gilt title. Very nice, clean, original condition! Original fawn endpapers clean and unmarked apart from a very neat signature (possibly to an admiral?) dated 1866 on the ffep. Contents clean, crisp and unmarked apart from some weak, old dampstain marks on the frontispiece (Nemesis - see image) and on one of the engravings. All the engravings, woodcuts and maps are present, and in complete and clean condition. Clean tissue guard between the frontispiece and titlepage. A very nice copy of this third edition. UK-based copies are in the National Maritime Museum, University of London - SOAS, and the V&A Museum Libraries.
