Period marbled boards rebacked expertly in half calf. Spine in six compartments of raised bands. Gilt text on morocco label on 2. Gilt ornamentation on 1,3,4,5, and 6. All edges marbled. , This is a very uncommon collection and, with so many different versions, it is difficult to tell how many plates are supposed to be included. Many of the plates are unmarked, but the few that are marked give credit to G. Bianchi for the etchings. It is known that Gregory Cleter was also responsible for some of the etchings. , Size : Oblong Folio (310x405mm)., Illustrated with 58 aquatint plates depicting the major works in the field of civil and religious architecture under Pope Pius IX in Papal cities such as Rome, Lazio, and Marche. Some areas shown are: archaeological excavations, restoration of civil and religious monuments, works of art, public buildings, factories, bridges, roads and railway lines (the Rome ? Civitavecchia line), educational institutions, astronomical observatories, churches and temples, hospitals, and barracks. Title is provided in fine facsimile otherwise, a very good example of this fascinating work. Plates are clean and crisp.

A.Âe che nelle Effemeridi aveva criticato l'opera del Cacchiatelli relativa alle fortificazioni stabili. Cacchiatelli fu architetto e incisore. ITA.
