A hand colored gravure print from the multi-volume deluxe portfolio entitled Army and Navy of the United States, 1776-1896 which depicted various U.S. military scenes. The image is 9 x 12 " on a sheet measuring 10.5 x 14". In NF condition. Jean Andre Castaigne (1860-1929) was a French artist and engraver who relocated to the U.S. in 1890 where he found steady work in the burgeoning world of illustrated books and magazines. He is best known as the original illustrator of the first edition of The Phantom of the Opera.
