Si tratta del crocifisso della Curia, ora ricoverato nei depositi del Museo Dioc…esano, e del crocifisso conservato nella chiesa di San Giuseppe ma proveniente da San Francesco. La restituzione dei due intagli, la loro analisi stilistica e tecnologica e il loro inquadramento nella produzione scultorea delle botteghe vengono contestualizzati in una riflessione di più ampio respiro sulla statuaria in legno del Quattrocento a Reggio Emilia, una riflessione che ben si colloca nel solco della proficua riqualificazione della scultura lignea negli studi storico-artistici, e in particolare in quel segmento di ricerca incentrato sull'attività dei maestri tedeschi nella penisola durante il XV secolo.
