In Yiddish, to Haim Gamzou (1910-82), director of the Art Museum in Tel Aviv, concerning his works for the state hall of the Knesset building and for the Metropolitan Opera in New York: "Liber Gamzu: A dank farn brif. Ich bin gekumen fun Amerike aher wo ich hob em bakumen. Ich hob gemeint az ir hot efscher a bisl fargesn Chagall [.]". Chagall expresses his sorrow about having been unable to attend the opening of the Knesset because he was tied up with finishing three tapestries ("Gobelins") that he wants to donate to the Knesset. Meanwhile, he has been to America, where he surveyed the installation of his tapestries at the New Metropolitan Opera. Unfortunately Chagall has to visit America a second time in January to work on Mozart's Magic Flute. - Chagall created two big wall paintings, located in the entrance hall, for the opening of a new building of the "Met" on 16 September 1966. For the Knesset Chagall designed, next to floor mosaics, as well three large tapestries that were unveiled on 18 June 1969. - Slightly creased; small hole outside the text area.

"Je vous disais que je n'ai pas oublié votre oncle et sa famille et que je garde d'eux un très fidèle souvenir. Je ne peux juger d'après la photo que vous m'avez adressée, s'il s'agit d'un original; ce d'autant plus que d'excellentes reproductions avaient été faites, à l'époque, du 'Violoniste'. Pour vous renseigner, il me faudrait voir l'original: pouvez-vous me le faire parvenir? Si oui, je m'empresserai de vous donner mon avis []". - On stationery with printed letterhead Les Collines".

Briefkarte (2 S. 16°, mit gedruckter Adresse LES COLLINS, VENCE am Kopf) in Kuli, eigenhändig von Hand seiner Frau VAVA CHAGALL (= Valentina Brodsky, 1905-93, verh. 1952?1985) und von ihm selbst am Schluß in Tinte mit eigenhändiger Unterschrift CHAGALL signiert Vence, 30. juin 1963 - an CHERE ELSA (= ELSA TRIOLET, Frau des französischen Dichters / Schriftstellers LOUIS ARAGON (1897-1982, 1924 Mitb egründer des Surrealismus), mit denen die Chagalls befreundet waren) ".En rentrant a Vence, apres notre long voyage, nous trouvons votre livre L AME. C est avec tous les sentiments de notre ame que nous vous remercions pour cet envoi. Nous allons nous plonger dans votre livre pour y trouver le chemin de votre ame.".
