"Born in London, and arrived in SA in 1964. Author of a childhood memoir A Soho Address (1965) which has been hailed as a minor classic, Lewis has published essays and literary studies in overseas journals and many of his poems appeared in the PEN series New South African Writing. Sometime Director of the Cultural Department of the SA Jewish Board of Deputies and editor of Jewish Affairs, he published a collection of poetry Shadow in the Sun in 1972.
