Einzige deutsche Ausgabe.- Louis-Jacques Chapt de Rastignac (1684-1750) war Erzbischof zu Tours in Frankreich. Marx (oder Marcus) Anton Wittola (1736-1797) war Pfarrer in Schörfling am Attersee in Oberösterreich. Später war er geistlicher Rat von Kardinal Truchseß von Waldburg, der Bischof von Passau war. Von ca. 1780 an wurde er auch bei der staatlichen Bücherzensur in Wien beschäftigt. Durch seine literarische Thätigkeit machte er sich unter den Anhängern der Josephinischen Aufklärung sehr bemerklich, besonders durch die Herausgabe der von 1784 bis1789 erscheinenden "Wienerischen Kirchenzeitung".- ". Der seeleneifrige Erzbischof von Tours in Frankreich Herr von Rastignac hat den hirtlichen Unterricht, welchen ich da in einer deutschen Uebersetzung liefere, meistens aus Liebe zu dergleichen lauen Christen herausgegeben; und er beweist darinne aus der göttlichen Schrift und aus der immerwährenden Lehre der katholischen Kirche gar begreiflich, daß die christliche Gerechtigkeit der einzige Weg zur Seligkeit ist. Edition originale de la dernière des trois Instructions rédigées par Chapt de Rastignac (1684-1750), archevêque de Tours depuis 1723, pour combattre les étranges doctrines du père Pichon. Comme les deux précédentes, elles lui valurent l'hostilité des Jésuites qui parvinrent à faire examiner sa doctrine par le cardinal de Rohan.
