Condition: good. One stringbound volume (book looks homemade). square octavo. 52 pages. Fully written in brown ink. All entires are poems, some ascribed, many not but presumably most if not all are written by someone other than Mary Graves. The internal text dates are 1826, 1827 and 1829. Mary signed the book and gave her home as Charlemont, Franklin County, Massachusetts. One can sense the major interests and concerns of Graves : clearly death of loved ones was a constant fear; religion; how to live a good life. One poem is titled "The Rainy Day", others "Happiness" and "The Holiday". Interesting document. Fairly Good, binding secure, entries legible but book is worn, some entries are messy, there are a few small ink stains here and there. Cover is very worn but intact.
