Cloth Hardback. Condition: Good. First Edition. Illustrated by Charles M. Relyea; 365pp, book is tight; illustrated cloth boards have lots of rubbing and tears to the back; normal aging to interior, 1/4 in tear at spine's top; interior pages have normal aging; otherwise interior in GOOD COND.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Reprint Edition. Likely from the 1930's due to gift inscription to front pastedown dated 1935. In green pictorial cloth with black ink to type and illustration. Some dings to bottom boards and rubbing to a few corners. Scar to tops of about 20 pages. Interior otherwise clean, though pages tanned. Binding solid.

Beloved Christmas tale by this pioneering romance writer (1866-1959), for which she would later write a companion book ("On Christmas Day in the Evening" --not included here). Orig. published in 1905 & then again in 1908 by a different publisher, this is a slightly later (n.d.) reprint from A. L. Burt, which retains the lovely turn-of-the-century illustrations (frontispiece + 3 full-color plates) by Charles M. Relyea. With cream-colored cloth over green quarter cloth-covered boards, stamped with bright gilt lettering & small window-framed image to front cover, this small octavo (5" x 7.75") is in VG condition: very clean with an occasional spot or smudge, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages off-white & unmarked with modest tanning. Light soil & rubbing to exterior. The clipped DJ is only Fair: largely intact, but missing sections at both head & tail of spine; darkened & rubbed, but looks lovely in new clear mylar cover.
