Hardcover. Condition: Good-. 1st Edition. See photos for condition details: hardcover, cloth boards show quite a bit of soiling and loss to the finish of the cloth, particularly on the front. The interior text page binding is good as is the front hinge, but the rear hinge is cracked. Pages are darkened due to age and there is foxing and soiling present, particularly on the end pages and pastedowns. The pages also have scattered light penciling notes from Capt. Naylor, whose name is on a small bookplate on the front pastedown that reads: "Please Return, Private Library of Captain W. K. Naylor, Ninth Infantry, No. 690". There is also his faint penciled signature opposite the bookplate. The pencil markings are very light and can be easily erased without leaving any evidence. We always saw about a half dozen pages that had any pencil marks present, which are all minor. William Keith Naylor was born in Illinois on 11/24/1874. His first military experience was obtained in the Minnesota National Guard, from which he was honorably discharged in 1898 to become a second lieutenant In the Ninth Infantry, United States army. He was a distinguished graduate of the infantry and cavalry school, finishing in 1904, graduated from the staff college in 1905, and the army war college in 1910. He eventually was promoted to Lt. Col. and served on General Bell's staff at Camp Logan, and the Chief of Staff (Col.) for the 33rd Division, and eventually was promoted to Brigadier General in 1918. In 1919 he received the Army Distinguished Service Medal for his actions in WWI. He died in 1942 and is buried in Arlington. Signed by Other.…
