Conference convened by the Academy of Arts of USSR was the first step towards the consolidation of the existing practices on resolution of the complicated issues that had been araised for Soviet sculptors while doing their work on creating of Great Construction Projects of Communism: All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (VSKhV), Moscow State University, Stalin's high-rises etc. Reports at the conference were made by sculptors Nikolai Vasilyevich Tomsky and Vera Ignatyevna Mukhina about monumental sculpture, by sculptors Lev Efimovich Kerbel and Matvey Genrikhovich Manizer about methods of Socialist Realism, by the leader of the Union of Artists of the USSR and the Soviet Academy of Arts Alexander Mikhaylovich Gerasimov about sculpture of Stalin's Era, and by many others prominent Soviet Russian sculptors. The event seemed very dramatic because only nine months had left until the end of Stalin's Era, but no one of participants had any idea about it, they believed everlasting Stalinism is ahead.
