Soft cover. Condition: New. From the author of THE FORGOTTEN RACES, Chris Ellard , THE LIKELY LADS  remembers Formula 3 racing in it's legendary 1 litre era (1964-70) through the recollections of those who took part.  Formula 3 always represented a foot on the ladder to the dizzy heights of F1 but this era produced more than it's share - future world champions Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, &  Emerson Fittipaldi  as well as Grand Prix winners  like Ronnie Peterson  and Jean-Pierre Jabouille all came to notice in the class. This book recalls them and those who they raced against (and were often beaten by - this was such a competitive formula!), many of whom went on to long successful careers in other forms of motor sport from F5000 and Le Mans to Touring cars or team management. Among them are Howden Ganley, Tony Lanfranchi, Derek Bell, Ian Ashley, Tim Schenken, Dave Walker, Reinie Wisell and Tetsu Ikuzawa.   Races were run all over Europe on circuits as diverse as the Nurburgring, Spa, Rouen and Croft.  The car makers included major names like Cooper, Lotus, Brabham , Chevron and Tehcno  while the highly tuned 1 litre engines were mostly Ford or BMC. and known as 'screamers' for the high revs and shrill exhaust note they produced.  F1 journalist David Tremayne's enthusiastic review for GRAND PRIX+ezine says it's "Packed with anecdotes. Exactly my kind of book , nicely put together and well illustrated".   All that and a really splendid cover painting by Andrew Kitson  213 page. Softback. New, sent direct from the publisher.
