First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A fine copy, in a near fine dust jacket, of the first US edition. The olive green cloth binding is clean and unworn, with strong white and blue lettering to the spine and front board. Everything is tight and square, with unbumped edges and corners. The contents are clean and bright with, other than a tiny bookseller's sticker to the front pastedown, no ownership inscriptions or other markings of any kind. The striking dust jacket is unclipped (no flap price), and is otherwise fully complete, showing only very minor edgewear and some rubbing to the spine ends. It has been neatly reinforced from behind with clear tape in places, and is now protected in a removable mylar cover. From the blurb: "This book is an analytical narrative of the various discoveries in Africa of one of the most primitive ancestors of the human family - the 'ape-man' or Australopithecus. The author is a world authority on human evolution and a central figure in the controversies these discoveries produced".

Seller: Royal Books, Inc., ABAA, Baltimore, MD, U.S.A.
Vintage reference photograph of an animation inker working on a cel of Pecos Bill for the 1948 animated film. Printed mimeo snipe affixed to the verso. From the archive of film historian and author Joel Finler. The last anthology feature made by Walt Disney Productions, and the last film to feature The Andrews Sisters trio. Walt Disney's typical practice of not hiring women animators changed after World War II, although the position was still by and large held by men. The processes of inking and painting cels, however, were almost entirely performed by young women. Although inking and painting were integral to the animation process, male animators often disparaged the work, considering it unchallenging and uncreative, and inkers and painters were rarely credited in the finished films. The unseen women of the ink and paint department were the subject of a 2017 book, "Ink and Paint: The Women of Walt Disney's Animation." 10 x 8 inches. Near Fine, with brief wear at the corners.
