He was the literary father of what has been called "the university school of humour". In a green cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine. Externally, generally smart, lightly rubbe…d in places. There is some wear to the top and tail of the spine. Spine is also slightly cocked with some minor discolouration. Corners are lightly bumped. Internally, binding is loosening in places. Hinges are strained but firm. There is an old ink inscription to the recto of front free-end paper, dated 1895. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some scattered foxing. Very Good. None (illustrator). book.
