Denis Devlin (15 April 1908 21 August 1959) was, along with Samuel Beckett and Brian Coffey, one of the generation of Irish modernist poets to emerge at the end of the 1920s. Spotted and dusty to the head edge, the spine head bumped, the half-title a little marked, and a couple of leaves inherently creased in part, but about Very Good in slightly lesser jacket, with an old price sticker over the printed price, moderately rubbed with a short split at the head edge of the upper panel, and the stock faded primarily to the spine and lower panel (not affecting the print). This slim and delicate collection of nine poems contains five by Coffey and four by Devlin. It was privately printed for the authors in a limited edition of 250 copies with an additional pre-publication reprint of 100 copies. In an essay on recent Irish poetry, published in 1934, Samuel Beckett described Coffey and Devlin as "the most interesting of the youngest generation of Irish poets." A fine copy without any damage, library stamps, inscriptions or other markings.
