CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Cover bright with minor rubbing to corners and spine ends. Interior is clean and tight. CONTENT DESCRIPTION: The author was the regimental historian and he produced a detailed history of the regiment from its organization in 1862 in Syracuse, New York, through its participation in the Grand Review. Collins covers camp life, duty in and around Harper's Ferry and the Shenandoah Valley, and the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, including their gallant defense of Culp's Hill, Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga, Kennesaw Mountain, Atlanta, and the March to the Sea; following, the regiment was actively engaged in the Siege of Savannah, and then marched through the Carolinas on the final campaign which ended in the surrender of Johnson. The 149th NY Infantry is recognized as a FOX 300 Fighting Regiment. A complete, annotated roster and index are included. This book, especially in this near fine condition, is very seldom offered for sale; there are few auction records for the title, the only one on Rare Book Hub dated from 2015.
