Lyon, and spent many summers at the family camp on Deer Island on Upper Sararac Lake. She was a poet and a philanthropist. She was known as June in her family; as a young woman she published 'June's Verses' in 1924, followed with ''More June's Verses'' in 1935 and in 1973, ''June in September.'' She and her husband, Court of Appeals Justice John Van Voorhis, gave the Wawbeek Inn on Upper Saranac Lake, to St. Lawrence University in 1975." She passed away in 1989.
