    First edition hardback, no dustjacket; illustrated, 289 + [1] pages. The binding has some wear and small marks, the front hinge is weak and there are some cracks between the gathers. The endpaper has an owners' labels and a stamp. The prelims have be en carelessly opened with tears and some losses. There are some light marginal fingermarks in places in the text and to the plates.

The first edition of this work, published in 1905 only. Clarissa Goff shares descriptions and impressions of the city of Florence, taking the reader through the famous St. Maria Novella and Santa Croce, the cathedral square, Ponte Vecchio and other charming Tuscan cities.The areas and striking buildings have been beautifully depicted in watercolour from nature by her husband Col. Robert Charles Goff, printmaker and painter known for his topographical scenes.Including seventy-five full page colour plates, collated and complete.Containing an ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, 'Marjorie & Edith, with love & best wishes, from H.N.R., Xmas 1912'. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some shelf wear, and fading to the spine. A small amount of splitting to the cloth at the rear joint. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper. Internally, plate opposite page 60 is lifting to the head. Remaining binding is generally firm. Instances of light spotting to the pages, though many pages do remain bright and clean. Very Good. signed by author. book.
