Great reference book evoking the spirit of the times. Printed on quite thick sugar? paper with lovely photos of soldiers in uniform showing off their stripes and badges. The author was President of the Military Heraldry Society. Very clear illustrations and explanations.

This book describes how the Service was formed in 1941 - largely due to the foresight and energy of its Senior Medical Officer, Brigadier A.Austin Eagger - and of the subsequent campaigns in which it took part. These include: North Africa, Italy, Greece, Normandy, Arnhem, and the Rhine. Originally published in 1963, and now re-issued by the Naval & Military Press, this is a fine and inspiring record of service and sacrifice in the field.
