'The Cottage Library', 5 1/4' x 3 3/8'. light shelfwear, corners a bit bumped. gift inscription on blank leaf recto of frontispiece. binder's tape repair of hinge at same. some minor foxing at outer edges of frontispiece pages, which are of a different paper stock from the remainder of the book. most pages are still unopened at the top edge, though a few have been , not all perfectly, such that there are a few poor cuts sticking out at the top and outer edges. there are not many, and there is no missing text noted, though there are a very few spots where some of the blank paper has been lost. pages and binding are clean, straight, and tight. there are no marks to the text or other serious flaws.

The volume is in good condition with solid boards and sturdy binding, although the volume has some wear along the spine and edges of the boards. The spine is adorned with gilt lettering within a red box. The pages have mild to moderate foxing, although the text remains clear and legible throughout. First edition thus. One of 750 copies issued. In gilt-lettered black leather shelfback over printed boards; printed dust jacket. Tiny dot of stain to fore-edge, else fine, the boards show just a hint of age-toning at the extremities; in very nearly fine dust jacket that also betrays age-darkening, particularly to the spine panel, and shows some minor crimping at spine head. Stylishly produced reissue of the important and rare directory--representing the first printed material on Nevada Territory, first published in 1862. Included are Henry DeGroot's "Sketches of the Washoe Silver Mines" and "Map of the Washoe Silver Mines.
