Softcovers. Condition: Very Good. Sixth Edition. No stated date c1984. Sixth edition and presumed first thus. 41pp. including the inside of the rear cover. Charles Harold St. John Hamilton (1876-1961) was an English writer, specialising in writing long-running series of stories for weekly magazines about recurrent casts of chara…cters, his most frequent and famous genre being boys' public school stories, though he also wrote in other genres. He used a variety of pen-names, generally using a different name for each set of characters he wrote about, the most famous being Frank Richards for the Greyfriars School stories featuring Billy Bunter. The Hamiltonian Library was founded in 1953, and became the largest lending library of Hamiltoniana anywhere. No facsimiles were stocked and it was the Library's policy not to stock stories by substitute writers. This is the sixth catalogue of the Library, and includes a loosely inserted consolidated amendment list from 1996. The book is bound in the original green card covers with a darker green cloth spine and black titling on the front cover. The book is in very good condition with light shelf wear to the covers. The contents are secure and clean with some amendments made in ball-point ink to the section showing postal borrowing costs.

Pagination: [iv], 108; [iv], 96; [iv], 105, [1]; [iv], 76; [iv], 128; [iv], 92; [ii], 68; [ii], 128. Red half-cloth binding. Each issue is arranged both by author and by subject, followed by a smaller section of fiction arr…anged by author and by title. The majority of titles added each year were recently published, although some earlier acquisitions also feature in the lists, e.g. George Francis White's "Views in India" (1838), acquired in 1936. It is interesting to read the lists of contemporary fiction, both well known titles such as Crime Club novels and Hemingway's "To Have and Have Not" (1937), acquired in 1938, alongside other authors now in varying degrees of obscurity.; 8vo.
