With eight delightful colour plates, by the author and four pages of sheet music at rear. Spine missing and front board partially detached. The title page is present but detached. There is scattered foxing throughout but the plates are in lovely bright condition. No inscriptions but bookplate on front free endpaper. 'Comus' was the pseudonym of Robert Michael Ballantyne (24 April 1825 - 8 February 1894), the Scottish author of ripping yarns such as The Young Fur-Traders and The Coral Island.

As depicted- a very good example of this scarce 1857 first edition. All illustrations etc fully intact and just minor age related tanning etc and overall a VG+ example.
