Wraps. Condition: Very Good. Folio magazine (13 x 10 inches). 136 pages; illustrated. Original pictorial wrappers. A Scarce and visually striking pre-First World War issue of Vogue, featuring a beautiful cover illustration by Ethel M.A. Steinmetz (E.M.A. Steinmetz). The cover depicts an elegant bride in a richly ornamented gown…carrying an immense bouquet of roses and cascading blossoms, executed in Steinmetz's distinctive decorative style. Steinmetz covers are considerably scarcer than the works of illustrators such as Lepape and Dryden. Published during the formative years of Conde Nast's ownership of Vogue, this special "Wedding and Trousseaux" issue reflects the luxurious fashions and social aspirations of America's upper classes in the early twentieth century. The issue is complete and retains the desirable advertising sections, including a color cover advertisement for Vanity Fair magazine. Contents include bridal fashions, society news, luxury-goods advertisements, and illustrations documenting wedding customs and couture of the period. Early Vogue issues from this era are exceedingly scarce and are sought by collectors of fashion history, graphic design, illustration, and Conte Nast publications. Condition: Complete with moderate wear, heaviest at edges. Minor losses at extremities, spine rubbed but intact. Interior is complete and clean. A sound Very Good copy of a fragile large-format fashion periodical. E.M.A. Steinmetz (illustrator).
