No Binding. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Not a book but a group of six, 7-inch, 45 rpm Rock 'n Roll / Tex-Mex vinyl singles from the year 1962, combined to consolidate shipping. These vinyl records play well; they grade "very good" to "very-good-plus." The labels show some rub from being stored together without individual protective sleeves; the label of the Johnnie Morisette offering, in particular, is downright ugly with a Previous Owner's name in red marker. But for one price you get: Garpax Records GP-44167, Bobby (Boris) Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers' original "Monster Mash," arranged and produced of course by the often strange Gary Paxton (this record was re-released in several successive years and this copy may in fact BE an early re-release, but originally released 1962); RCA Victor 47-7983, Sam Cooke's "Twistin' The Night Away" -- a Hugo & Luigi Production, very-good-plus with some small silver markings to the label; Swan S-4125, The Rockin' Rebels' "Wild Weekend"; "All-Time Hit" Series 54505, Billy Ward offering "Deep Purple" and Hoagy Carmichaels' "Stardust" on the Liberty black-and-silver label, backed by His Dominoes; Peacock S-1916, "Promotion Record Not For Sale," The Crume Brothers' "Chico's Lullaby" backed with "Lost Bandit" (guitar-heavy slow-dance Tex-Mex instrumentals with minimal vocal refrains, the Styrene at least very-good-plus); and SAR Records SAR-126, Johnnie Morisette's rendition of Sam Cooke's "Meet Me At The Twistin' Place," backed with "Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere." A group of six early 1960s 45s, combined into a lot at one price to consolidate shipping charge. This group of six 1962 "singles" now reduced from $34.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Smith, Nikkolas (illustrator). Hardcover. Sam Cooke's legendary and beloved civil rights anthem is brought to life for the first time with stunning illustrations by Nikkolas Smith.*"Potent and deeply moving." Kirkus Reviews, Starred Review*"While honestly reflecting a difficult past, this title is full of hope and the promise of a future where change will come; an essential title for all libraries." School Library Journal, Starred Review*"A profound and poetic work affirming the power of art to envision change-and to help make it happen." Booklist, Starred ReviewI was born by the river in a little tent. Oh, and just like the river, I've been a-runnin' ever since. It's been a long, a long time coming, but I know a change gonna come. Oh yes, it will. The immortal lyrics of Sam Cooke's inspiring civil rights anthem are among the most powerful in music history. Written as an ode to the struggles and joy of Black Americans living under the oppression of Jim Crow, "A Change Is Gonna Come" became a rallying cry for justice and equality when it was shared in 1964. Now, more than sixty years later, the fight for freedom continues, and these sweeping lyrics remain as important and soul stirring as ever. Alongside Sam Cooke's inspiring words, Nikkolas Smith's breathtaking art guides young readers through pivotal moments in American history. The award-winning illustrator of The 1619 Project: Born on the Water, powerfully references civil rights milestones and Black freedom fighters, empowering all of us to continue the mission of change. Includes a QR code link to Sam Cooke's iconic recording. "An illustrated version of the civil rights anthem by Sam Cooke"-- Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

First Edition
No Binding. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Not a book but a seven-inch, 45 rpm, vinyl "single" record, SAR Records SAR-152. Recording as "The Valentinos" and produced by Sam Cooke, the Womack Brothers released this little Bobby & Shirley Womack-penned number in June 1964. It charted for a mere two weeks, peaking at No. 94. Within days, however, WINS New York DJ Murray the K. spun the new release for the Rolling Stones as they visited his studio during their first American tour. The Stones liked it. They liked it so much that they recorded their cover a mere nine days later, at Chess Studios in Chicago. Their single was released in July. Bobby Womack later admitted he'd told Sam Cooke he didn't want the Rolling Stones to record the song, that Mick Jagger should get his own songs. Cooke prevailed, and six months later, on receiving his first royalty check for the Stones' version of "It's All Over Now," Womack told Cooke that from now on Mick Jagger could have any darned song he wanted! The Stones' version of "It's All Over Now" (their third single) stayed on the American charts for 10 weeks, peaking at No. 26. It went to Number One in the U.K., appeared on their second American album, "12 X 5", and remained part of the band's live set for years. Here's the somewhat harder-to-find Womack Bros. original, "very good," some light scratches but plays just fine. "B" side written by Sam Cooke. Reduced from $17.
