VD17 1:013029E (Band 1) u. VD17 1:013036P (Band 2). - Neudruck der von Denis Godefroy (1549-1622) erstellten und 1583 erstmals im Druck veröffentlichten ersten kritischen Gesamtausgabe der vom oströmischen Kaiser Justinian I. angeordneten Zusammenstellung und Kodifikation des gesamten römischen Rechts. Von Godefroy stammt auch die Bezeichnung "Corpus Iuris Civilis". Seine Bearbeitung blieb bis in das 19. Jahrhundert hinein die grundlegende für die Beschäftigung mit dem römischen Recht. Der Corpus Iuris Civilis ist in Digestae, Institutiones Iustinianae, Codex und Novellae unterteilt. In der vorliegenden Ausgabe hat der "Codex" ein eigenes Titelblatt. Dies sollte dem Buchbinder eine etwas handlichere Aufteilung in zwei Bände ermöglichen. Der eigentliche Gesetzestext ist jeweils von den Noten des Godefroy eingerahmt. - Kupfertitel u. Porträt angestaubt u. mit mehreren Randeinrissen, die ersten beiden Lagen etw. gelockert, im ersten Teil eine Seite (Sp.721/722) mit kl. Ausschnitt im unteren weißen Rand, bei 2 Seiten fehlt eine Ecke (ohne Textverlust), gelegentlich etw. fleckig u. schwach wasserrandig, wenige Seiten haben etw. spätere handschriftliche Anmerkungen, die vermutlich von dem auf dem Titel als Besitzer genannten Jeremias Friedrich Krause aus Frankfurt an der Oder stammen (dat. 1785). Es fehlt die letzte Textseite (tabellarische Aufstellung).

Piatto posteriore parzialmente staccato. Tavola con frammento mancante Edizione glossata stampata in bicromatico rosso e nero, capilettera ornati. Impreziosisce l'edizione una tavola grande ripiegata fuori testo con un'illustrazione xilografica dell'Arbor Substitutionum pregevolmente figurata.
