Nel 1843 lasciò l'insegnamento per diventare, a Firenze, precettore dei figli dell'Arciduca Leopoldo II. Ebbe anche altre cariche, che dovette lasciare alla caduta del Granducato. Fu Autore tra l'altro di un trattato di Calcolo (1843), in cui aleggia un certo sentore di esigenze di rigore affermatesi più tardi.
