Two volumes octavo bound in full blue morocco with raised bands and double gilt fillet to boards and turn-ins; gilt dots along all edges; attractive blue endpapers; top edges gilt. Volume. 1 was bound for the owner by Chas. sawyer and Volume 2 by Truslove and Hanson of Sloane Street, London. Unusually, the volumes were never numbered on spines, nor indeed on title pages. The leather on the second volume has been turned to a uniform brown due to exposure to light. Bookplate of Baron Alington on the front paste-downs and "A" in a gilt roundel on upper cover of the second volume. Volume 1. 463pp. 24 illustrations. Volume 2. 511pp. folding Genealogy as frontispiece and 15 illustrations. A rather special set.
