An uncommon first edition of the work. In the publisher's original green blind stamped cloth with gilt detailing.With a vignette to the half title and 20 illustrations by Fielding, Cox, Warren and Radclyffe. Collated complete.This work from the Annual of British Landscape Scenery was written by Louisa Anne Twamley. Twamley was an Anglo/ Australian writer and illustrator and was potentially on of Australia's earliest photographers. This work takes you on a journey through the autumn scenery of Wye. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with fading to the spine, bumping resulting in minor closed tears and loss to the cloth to the head and tail on the extremities, Very minor closed tear to the rear joint and marks to the boards and spine. Booksellers label to front pastedown. Internally Pages are bright with scattered spotting, the odd tidemark and offsetting to the verso of the plates. Illustrated half title tender and a few pages starting but firm. Good. book.

His translations include works of scholarship: a History of the Literature of the South of Europe (4 vols., 1823) from the original by J. C. L. de Sismondi, a History of Painting in Italy (6 vols., 1828) from the original by L. A. Lanzi, and The Life and Writings of Miguel de Cervantes (1839) from the original by Martín Fernández de Navarrete. His translations of literary works include the eleven volumes of The Italian Novelists, German Novelists, and Spanish Novelists (1825, 1826, 1832). 1831 saw the earliest of his many biographical and critical notices prefacing editions of English eighteenth-century writers such as Fielding and Smollett in The Novelists Library series. Complete in two volumes. 'South Wales' illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, forty-four plates, and two vignettes. Collated, complete. 'North Wales' illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, forty-seven plates, and two vignettes. Collated, complete. 'South Wales' bound with half-title, 'North Wales' bound without half-title. One page of publisher's adverts to the rear of 'North Wales'. Undated, dated from Jisc from copies held at the British Library. These two works are detailed travel journals, written during the author's long excursions through Wales, with one volume focussing on North Wales, and the other focussing on South Wales. Roscoe offers a unique view on Wales in the early nineteenth century in this work, as the landscape was changing with the end of the Industrial Revolution. Written by Thomas Roscoe, an English author and translator. His other works include 'Gonzalo, the Traitor', 'The King of the Peak', and 'Legends of Venice'.
