Appleton Good condition overall but some of the black and white illustrations have been water-coloured or crayoned by a child. The corners are starting to wear and there is a small puncture hole on the spine and the spine titles are part rubbed. A few minor marks and stains commensurate with use by child readers - nothing too bad. No inscriptions. No dust jacket.

Condition: very good. No edition details & undated, but has wartime economy logo so 1940s. HB. Pictorial boards with cloth spine, no dustjacket. 64pp, h: 25cm. With 8 colour plates from watercolours by Honor C. Appleton and 16 line drawings in text by her. Beautiful paintings. Story for younger children about Josephine and her made up games with her toys. An early, charming toy story. Plate pages are very good, with light water stains to lower margins; covers are rubbed with scratches to front and general handling marks, frayed corners; pages are mostly clean, a few have marginal handling marks , some have edge tears (one is across most of page), binding stretched (webbing showing at back) but holding. A Good copy.

This Josephine book is in better shape than the other we have listed; the pictorial boards are fairly clean and have not been scribbled on. The spine is intact with faded titles. one letter on the front is rubbed Couple of former owner names are present. This title has 8 lovely coloured plates including the frontispiece and 12 black and white illustrations all captioned . Binding is still tight and there is not too much damage to the spine except for the usual softening and a little fraying at the ends. There are also 8 black and white illustrations. Foxing and grubby marks throughout but not on the plates which have been preserved remarkably.
