Manuscript / Paper Collectible Signed
Sin Encuadernar. Condition: Aceptable. Size: 27 x 15 cm. This costume design is similar to others astronomical allegories depicted in 19th century fantasy plays and revues, but also on early Cinema. The Cinematheque de France, owns a photograph of actress Jehanne d'Alcy in a similar costume, dressed as goddess Phoebé, an allegory of the moon, for Méliès' play 'Les Farces de la Lune ou les Mésaventures de Nostradamus' (1891). Also, in Méliès' film The merry frolic of Satan (1906), in the astral way of the hell-carriage, we can see another woman with sceptre finished with a star (between 1:33-1:40). So the iconography of this delicated watercolour, is a Heavenly bodie or astronomical object, for an unknown play, maybe in the UK. ABOUT THE AUTHOR.
