Light tanning to pages; heavier foxing and tanning to text block edges. Front hinge is visibly cracked with netting exposed but board remains attached. Binding otherwise remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild sunning and scuffing overall. Spine has moderate sunning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Noticeable thumb marking, foxing and tanning to pages, as well as mild dog-earring. More prominent to text block edges and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutters and rear hinge causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall; heavier to rear board. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

This edition probably dates from the 1890s and the original owner has written their name and a date (1896) on the front free endpaper. The book has a spine lean and the boards have a little corner rubbing and slight surface wear. Browning to the page edges and the pages are heavily browned with light spotting at the front and back and in a few places through the book - the pages are otherwise unmarked.
