First edition, limited to 200 copies printed at Paul Bailey's Westernlore Press. Fine in gilt-stamped indigo cloth over decorative boards. With tipped-in photographic frontispiece portrait of the Courier; interior illustrations by Don Louis Perceval. With a foreword by publisher Glen Dawson. The Courier was an American ship trading on the coast of the Golden State in the early years of the nineteenth century. This is the log's first appearance in print. One of the most attractive entries in Dawson's Early California Travels series (#44).
