Soft Cover. Condition: New. First English Edition. This volume provides an overview of exploration work done in parts of Central Laos and on the borders of Laos with Cambodia and Vietnam, parts of French Indochina. The various itineraries in Laos cover the search for passages between the Mekong and the Vietnamese coast, the country of the Puan people and territories inhabited by tribes which were either under Vietnam's or Siam's sovereignty or called themselves independent. The book also documents lifestyles and customs of various Moi, Bahnar, Djiarai, Sedang, and other primitive tribes. Some of these forgotten ethnic groups had already been visited by French Catholic missionaries who contributed valuable ethnic data to the reports of the Pavie Mission. The explorations were often politically motivated and resulted in French occupation of territories belonging to the primitive tribes of southern Laos and Vietnam. First English translation of the 1900 French edition. 458 pp., 40 pp. illustr. A new/unread copy; covers very lightly tanned as is common with this publisher's books. Size: 21 x 15 cm.

Paperback. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: no dj. This book reports a chapter of Franco-Siamese politics played out in 1890-91 among the independent tribes inhabiting the crossroads between French Southern Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Since various semi-independent states in present-day Southern Laos and Cambodia were under the sovereignty of, and paid tribute to, the King of Siam, Siamese military units were once again confronting the dominant colonial power, France, at the borders. The author, Captain P. Cupet, was a member of the famous Pavie Mission and studied the politics as well as the ethnography and anthropology of the tribes for years. So his report incorporates significant material on such tribes as the Radé, the Djiaraï, the Davak, the Cédang, the Brao, the Bahnar and many smaller tribes. His pictorial material is outstanding and unrivalled as a record of the peoples that, in the 1960s, during the struggle for the forest trails in the next Vietnam war, would enter big power politics once again. Accompanying maps by Auguste Pavie can be found in the Atlas of the Pavie Mission. Book.

Condition: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Contemporary commercial databases are putting an increased accentuation on analytic abilities. The data mining technology is very important when we are referring to large volumes of data for analysis. Regarding novel data if we use modern data mining techniques we may improve their accuracy and generalization. But as we all know attaining results of good quality frequently demands high level of proficiency and user expertise. Support Vector Machines is a wonderful and potent state-of-the-art data mining algorithm and can express problems not compliant to traditional statistical analysis. Anywise, this kind of algorithm stays limited on the strength of methodological complexities, scalability challenges, and scarcity of production quality SVM implementations. The paper hereby portrays Oracle¿s implementation of SVM where the primary topic lies on ease of use and scalability whilst maintaining high performance accuracy. Support Vector Machines algorithm is entirely integrated into the Oracle database framework and so it can be easily leveraged in a multifariousness of deployment scenarios.

The fifth volume (by chronology) of Pavie's celebrated account of multiple expeditions, beginning in 1879, into previously unsurveyed regions of Indochina including Thailand (then Siam), Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. The work (collectively known as "Mission Pavie"), eventually ran to ten volumes, published over more than a decade spanning the years 1894 to 1919.
