Au retour de Turquie, Hénin (né en 1755) prit part à la campagne d'Italie de 1796, et fut blessé à Caldiero et à Arcole. Nommé en 1802 au poste d'adjoint à l'état-major de Saint-Domingue, ce fut lui qui ramena à Paris en 1804 les archives de l'armée de la colonie que lui avait confiées Rochambeau. Sa carrière militaire sous l'Empire s'achève en 1813, date à laquelle il lui fallut se justifier devant le conseil de guerre de Grenoble à la suite de l'évacuation du Simplon, jugée trop hâtive. Admis à la retraite en 1815, il vécut jusqu'en 1841. This print published ca. 1840.Biography engraver: Adrien Cuvillier was a nineteenth century French lithographer. Desire Guilmard (c. 1810-1885) was a French publisher. Little else is known about his life. Condition: very good, given age. Small stains/foxing in the margins, and a thumbmark in the bottom left corner. . General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
