Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. Without dust jacket if issued. First Edition, early printing. Despite difficult condition, this is a scarce title and priced accordingly. Octavo, 7 2/3? tall, 822 pages, gilt titles on green cloth. A good minus, generally clean, sturdy original hard cover edition with moderate shelf wear with light ex…terior soiling, fore-corner tips through to boards, top and bottom cloth edge of back strip frayed, fore-edges darkened, binding solid, but paper moderately yellowed with some scattered foxing. Given the period, unlikely dust jacket was issued. This may be a first edition without being the first printing. Priority was unestablished.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a journey into the complexities of racial tensions in 19th century America through the lens of a young aristocrat from South Carolina, Ralph Haywood. Set against the backdrop of European opulence and the rigid social hierarchies of the American South, the story unfolds… as Ralph grapples with the moral ambiguities of his privileged existence. The author delves into the clash between the ideals of liberty and equality enshrined in the American constitution and the brutal reality of slavery, exploring the personal and societal consequences of upholding such a system. Through its rich cast of characters and immersive historical setting, this book elucidates the profound impact of racial injustice on both the oppressor and the oppressed, shedding light on a dark chapter in America's past and its continuing relevance to contemporary society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
