Condition: Good. Color Collotype/Phototypie Oval 57 x 47 cm. on sheet size 62 x 51cm. Slight aging. Born in Paris, Georges Dantu exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and at the Salon des Orientalistes. He was represented by Devambez Gallery, as well as Galerie Georges Petit. Specializing in winter landscapes and views of Japan, he obtained a certain level of success in his lifetime with his beautiful fields of flowering irises, his walls of hanging wisteria on waterbanks, and his views of Fujiyama. Dantu was as well a tenor in the Opéra Comique and a soloist in concerts at the Colonne and Lamoureux theaters in Paris. This unique and highly individualized artist's work is characterized by a delicate and refined palette, an ethereal, dream-like mood, and imagery that captures the imagination.
