About the book >.>.> I, Bedrich Smetana, born in Litomy?l on Tuesday, March 2nd, 1824, at ten o'clock in the morning, am the son of Fr…anti?ek Smetana, a master brewer, and of Barbora Smetana, n?e Lynek. I was not yet four when my father taught me how to keep time to music. At the age of five I started school, and I was taught the piano and violin as well. I was seven when I gave a performance of the Over-ture to "La Muette" at an academy in Litomy?l. In the summer of 1830, we went to Jindrichuv Hradec where my father leased the local brewery. Here I continued my studies, literary and musical. My teacher was Ikavec, the court choir master. In 1835 my father bought the Ru?kovy Lhotice estate to which we then moved. I was sent to the elementary school in Jihlava (Iglau). There I was taught music by Matocha. I was in my second term when my father took me home, desirous of sending me to the elementary school in Nemeck? Brod. The following year I attended the first form of the gymnasium with my brother Anton and I.
