"Chez Aubert, galerie véro dodat - Lith. de Becquet, rue de Furstemberg n°6."Caricature publiée dans journal satyrique "Le Charivari" le 14 septembre 1833.Adolphe Jollivet fut député orléaniste en 1830 et 1831 puis rallia la majorité gouvernementale avant de se positionner au centre-gauche de 1842 à 1848. Député Adolphe Jollivet, il fut notamment l'auteur des Lettres au rédacteur du Journal des débats au sujet de l'émancipation des noirs en 1844. Daumier représentera à nouveau Adolphe Jollivet, sous la forme de caricature, cette fois en portrait de pied dans "La Caricature politique, morale, littéraire et scénique", volume 6, du 27 décembre 1833 (Planche n°346). Cette planche de la série des Célébrités du juste-milieu s'accompagne alors de ce texte : « C?est un des petits membres de cette petite opposition qui s?est placée dans une posture incertaine, entre la tourbe compacte du tiers-parti et les derniers rangs de l?opposition monarchique » Honoré Daumier (1808-1879) peintre, lithographe, sculpteur. il débute dans le journalisme sous la houlette de Charles Philipon, directeur de La Caricature, monument d'opposition littéraire, politique et artistique.Daumier sera d'ailleurs condamné à six mois de prison pour la planche intitulée Gargantua. A sa sortie de prison, Il suit les séances parlementaires et sculpte d'après souvenir dans la glaise les députés, orateurs, ministres et défenseurs de "L'Ordre des choses" que combat son journal pour la célèbre série des bustes-charges. Notre lithographie est à mettre en lien avec cette série ou Daumier "charge" Jollivet. Originally a liberal about the time of this lithograph he became right-wing and eventually supported the Government of Louis-Philippe. This portrait was printed upside down in the magazine.
