Inlaid: "Collector's Notes" on Blood Music [2pp.]. Charles Leonard Harness (1915 - 2005) was an American science fiction writer. His first novel was his most famous, Flight into Yesterday. It was first published as a novella in the May 1949 issue of Startling Stories (pp. 9-79), was expanded as a full-length novel (Bouregy & Curl, 1953), and was wisely renamed Paradox Men by Donald Wollheim for reprint as the first half of Ace Double #D-118 in 1955. This "science-fiction classic" is both "a tale dominated by space-opera extravagances" where space-time whirls and force fields interpose semi-protectively; as well as "a severely articulate narrative analysis of the implications of Arnold J. Toynbee's A Study of History," Brian Aldiss noted its "Widescreen baroque" style. Illustrator Kent Bash (born 1946) is well known for his dynamic artwork created for many covers of major Sci-Fi mags such as Amazing Stories & The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction; as well as frontispieces and interior art for many Sci-Fi, fantasy and related books. EXCEPTIONAL "LIKE NEW" COPY: Very tight, bright, clean with brilliant color plates, unfoxed, and without any marks by previous owners. Includes "Collector's Notes." Full Leather with 22k gold-stamping Collector's First Edition of The Masterpieces of Science Fiction thus illustrated.
