Er geldt slechts een verbod voor hen: beperkt door de wetten van de natuur mogen zij geen leven nemen. De goden zijn niet de enige heersers van dit land. In het midden ervan ligt de Woestenij, eigendom van de mysterieuze, verslindende en angstaanjagende Vlagh. Dit wezen is niets minder dan de ergste nachtmerrie in mensengedaante. Hij heeft een enorme leger van verschrikkelijke monsters tot leven gebracht. Hij is van plan Dhrall te veroveren en vervolgens de hele wereld te domineren. Nu, net wanneer het einde van de tijdcyclus nadert, kan zijn gruwelijke plan slagen. Een onvermijdelijke oorlog staat voor de deur. De inwoners van Dhrall kunnen alleen rekenen op de steun van piraten en huurlingen, die niet staan te trappelen om te vechten. De ware tegenstanders van Vlagh blijken vier kinderen te zijn, de Dromers. Opgevoed door de goden zelf, hebben zij de gave om dromen te brengen met de kracht om de realiteit te veranderen. PLUS, laid in is a bookplate SIGNED by David and Leigh Eddings, except that David has signed it "Attila the Hun." Leigh started to sign with one pen, then, when it was running low on ink, borrowed the one "Attila" had used to finish her name. BUT WAIT--THERE'S MORE! Also included is a promotional folder from Warner Aspect celebrating the book, David and Leigh's first Aspect publication. Inside the folder are an author appearance confirmation for their bookstore signing on Oct. 14, 2003, and a fax from David to the publicist at Aspect (then faxed by said publicist to the bookseller) that seems to be answering reader questions. The fax begins--demonstrating David's sense of humor (see "Attila the Hun") "Here you go. This should confuse the hell out of everybody."
