First edition. Illus. with 14 [of 15] watercolors and 24 [of 27] drawings. Plus one original drawing laid in. Folio. One of 23 copies with an original drawing (14 had original watercolors) of a run of 1042. Lacking one folded leaf (of four pages) containing one watercolor and three drawings. Andre Dignimont (1891-1965) was a French painter, draftsman, decorator, and book illustrator, perhaps most famous as the last, having illustrated the works of Colette, P. Louys, Margaret Mitchell, and many others. Scarce even lacking the plate. OCLC shows only one copy and the BN, 3. Small tear to heel of spine of paper wrappers, attached glassine wrappers a bit soiled with a small tear, in a worn paper- covered card portfolio with some splits at the joints, but quite solid. Loose signatures in paper wrappers in portfolio.

Number 14 of 18 copies on Japon ancien with 4 original signed watercolours loosely inserted, from an edition limited to 628, with pochoir-coloured plates and illustrations by Andre Dignimont. Original printed wrappers bound in, t.e.g., others uncut, spine a little faded. Slight foxing and a few leaves with old worm damage to lower margins.

Paperback. Condition: Very Good+. Limited Edition. Original wraps, in glassine dust jacket; 4to; with full-color frontipiece and plates, untrimmed edges. Total limited edition of 833 copies, with variations. This copy number 12 from a limited edition of 25 on Hollande van Gelder paper, with an additional suite of 6 plates in b/w, and 1 in full-color (these loose, in fine condition, and suitable for framing). Covers a little wrinkled along the edges; small chips at spine tips. Glassine torn along spine. Internally simply lovely.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Original morocco and leather endpapers, in folder and slipcase; 4to; with 84 in-text illustrations in pochoir by Dignimont. Number 291 from a limited edition of 350 copies on Rives paper. First published in 1904. Very fine, illustrations remain exceptionally fresh.
