The covers have some wear around the edges and at the corners and have very light soiling. The spine is tight. The pages are mostly white with little wear and few marks. The book is illustrated in color line art drawings and full page illustrations. 30 chapters are arranged in six parts: The Holy Spirit and the Trinity; The Sacraments and the Church; The Christian Church through the Ages; Lutherans in North America; The Work of the Congregation; and Being an active Church Member. The book concludes with The Small Catechism by Martin Luther in contemporary english. 191 pages. Blue pebbled cloth boards with gold, ivory and black scene of three sailing ships at top portion of front board, black stamped lettering; gold lettering and black and gold seahorse/seashell decoration on spine. No wear to lettering or decorations. Very slight hint of surface wear to spine corners, no fraying. A few very tiny white spots to cover at lower right corner. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Pages are clean with clean endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Etched frontispiece illustration by Frank T. Merrill, with tissue guard. 540 pages.
